Inspired by the music video for The Story of O.J. by Jay-Z, this work engages with the video’s stark visual language and its unflinching commentary on race, identity, and systemic power. Drawing from imagery historically used to stereotype and marginalize, the piece reframes those references as tools of confrontation and critique.

Through layered use of acrylic and pencil, the composition balances precision and rawness, allowing line and gesture to carry both narrative and tension. Sealed with a resin finish, the surface lends permanence and gravity—underscoring the work’s reflection on legacy, perception, and self-definition.
